When things go wrong . . .
Have you ever noticed that when you're down and things are going wrong in your life, you feel like your whole life has always been gray? You don't remember the last time sun shined on you. But when joy returns, you hold on to it tightly, realizing that joy is fragile. You feel that jit is fleeting and will disappear like a wisp of smoke.
To remember how much you have been blessed, start keeping a journal now. Write down all the good and bad things that happen in your life. I'm sure you'll find when you review the record, that your good times outweigh the bad.

What it takes is keeping the faith despite all doubt, confusion and
radically opposing points of view.
Bottom line? Follow the advice of songwriter and philosopher Johnny
Mercer, who wrote:
You've got to ac-cen-tu-ate the positive
E-lim-in-ate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mr. In-Between!
Make that choice - decide to "ac-cen-tu-ate the positive [and]
e-lim-in-ate the negative" - and you become an optimist, someone who
will lead a longer, healthier life and be better equipped to persevere
when things are not going well. Or, as Voltaire put it, you will have a
"mania for saying things are well when one is in hell."
